The vacuum belt conveyor has an air-pervious endless belt (20) travelling around the pulleys (22) forming a loop comprising conveying path and return path. A vacuum blower (24) is positioned within the loop of belt, to generate low pressure at the inner side of conveying path of belt. A vacuum box (21) comprising the vacuum blower is positioned within the loop of belt. The vacuum box is opened towards the inner side of conveying path of belt. The vacuum box has an exhaust opening (19) facing the return path of belt. The impeller of vacuum blower is connected to air turbine.
