The cover system (10a) for a building is made up of cover elements (16) comprising a foam core (22), cover foils (24, 26) and longitudinal stiffening elements (32, 36). Also claimed are such a cover element, and a method for its production. The method involves filling of the space formed by the stiffening elements and the cover foils with a pastic foam, and drawing of the resultant product through a die to give it its final shape.
