On-site removal of nitrogen from dirty water using apparatus with one microbially-operated denitrifying deaeration vessels and two bacterially-operated nitrifying aeration vessels in each unit
Apparatus for on-site removal of nitrogen from dirty water is such that each operational unit has a microbially-operated denitrifying deaeration vessels and and two nitrifying bacterially-operated aeration vessels, with recycling in each unit of a predetermined amount of water from the end aeration vessels to deaeration vessels. The apparatus has (A) a first unit including: (i) a first microbe-containing deaeration vessel (10) for denitrification; (ii) a bacteria-containing aeration vessel (20) for nitrifying the water from vessel (10) and (iii) a second aeration vessel (30) connected to vessel (20) for continuous bacterial nitrification, with a predetermined amount of water from vessel (30) being recycled to the first deaeration vessel (10); (B) a second unit including (iv) a second deaeration vessel (40) for microbially denitrifying the water from vessel (30), (v) a third aeration vessel (50) for nitrifying water from vessel (40) using nitrifying bacteria and (vi) a fourth aeration vessel (60) connected to vessel (50) for continuous bacterial nitrification, there being a predetermined amount of water from vessel (60) recycled to the second deaeration vessel (40); and (C) a sedimentation tank (70) for separating solids from the water from unit (B) and recycling the sludge to the first deaeration vessel (10).
