The pressure medium-operated rotary drive has an axially fitted shaft in a cylindrical housing and an axially displaceable piston activated by a pressure medium. The shaft by the axial displacement of the piston is rotated around the central axis of the rotary drive and at its end extending out of the rotary drive a torque can be transmitted. The piston (5) is provided with two inclined slots (6a) displaced through 180 degrees and two grooves (19,20) displaced through 90 degrees to the slots and running parallel to the central axis of the piston. The slots are inclined preferably at an angle of 40-60 degrees to the longitudinal axis of the rotary drive. The shaft (3) is provided with a hole running crossways to the central axis to accommodate the cylindrical shafts of slide bolts (7aa) which have rectangular heads (7c).
