The control valve has a valve seat (4) and a cooperating axially displaced valve element (7), used for regulating the flow cross-section, with a regulating cone (18) incorporated within the valve element and displaced relative to the latter in response to a temperature variation, e.g. via a piston element (22) of a material having a linear thermal expansion characteristic.
