The device has an actuator (2) with two separate magnets (6,7) acting on an armature (5) on the valve shaft (3). The armature moves contact-free in an air gap (12) of the magnet. The magnet core (8) has two core arms, which are separated by the air gap and enclose the armature. The gas exchange valve (1) is coupled to a spring mechanism with spring force directed approx. parallel to the movement direction (10) of the armature.
