The drive for an adjustable part of a motor vehicle has a driven pinion(12) driving a drive unit with two gearwheels(14,16) which engage with an operating cable at at least two points. The drive unit is constructed as a step-down for the rotation of the pinion. The gearwheels and pinion lie in the same plane. The diameter or number of teeth of the two gearwheels is slightly different, and the diameter or number of teeth of the pinion is smaller than that of the gearwheels.
