The system has a flush-mounted (below the traffic surface-level) rail arrangement for track-guidance and contactless, with inductive power supply provided between a primary (HF AC) conductor in an insulated rail-body (12) and a secondary conductor in the vehicle, the latter having a servo steerage controlled by an optical sensor device. The rail body (12) presents an optical contrast pattern, via its surface, transversely to the travel direction, the pattern continually sensed by the sensor device during travel.
