Process for the contact-less measurement of the concentration of salt on roadways comprises receiving the liquid (2) present on the roadway (1); adding a high energy amount for a short time; and electrically measuring and evaluating the intensity of the light produced depending on the wavelength. An independent claim is also included for a device for carrying out the process comprising a high voltage generator (7) containing an electrode (4); and an optoelectrical converter (5), whose collimator tube (5') contains an optical filter (6) and is directed onto the intermediate chamber between the electrode and the wheel. The electrode is arranged at a short distance to a wheel (3) rolling on the roadway. Preferred Features: The spectral line characteristic for the element sodium of around 589 nm is filtered out in the converter and an electrical signal is obtained as a measure for the concentration of the sodium chloride used as the salt.
