A flat thin saw blade (10) is re-shaped by known machining processes without stock removal, such as stamping, rolling, forging, bending, so that it gains increased inertia or resistance moment to twisting and bending without any weight increase. During re-shaping of the cross-sectional surface area the actual size of the cross-sectional surface remains unchanged. The spine of the blade is preferably interspersed with material thickenings.
