The metal or plastics coolant tube, for a heat exchanger, is a flat tube with flat upper and lower walls parallel to the longitudinal axis (A-A) of the tube and with a given gap between them. A number of connecting holes (18) are distributed along each reinforcement wall which define a number of discrete wall sections (20) along the length between neighboring holes, with an upstream edge (22) and a downstream edge (24). The connecting holes (18) and the discrete wall sections (20) have measured lengths (L1,L2), and the connecting holes (18) are at given intervals (P). The holes (18) between the edges (22,24) of each discrete walls section (20) are arranged so that a wall overlap ratio (Wr) can be defined as (P?-2*L2)/P-0 and pref. 0.4 = Wr = 0.6.
