The pen has a housing (2) with an ink-containing cartridge (10) having a writing tip (14). A cap (20) on the lower housing end section covers the writing tip, and there is an elastic member (26) between cap and cartridge to apply a pressure to the cartridge in a direction opposite to that of the cap. A clip (30) at the upper housing end section has a free part (34) for pushing into a pocket etc. A press part (40) in the top of the housing executes a vertical movement, and there is a pressure element (50) between cartridge and part. A single movement of the press part moves the writing tip out, and a double movement retracts the tip into the housing. The tip is also retracted when the free part of the clip is lifted.
