The airbag arrangement includes a valve component to control the inflation process and is constructed as an elliptical valve flap(11) pivot-mounted in the cylindrical gas duct(10). In the open position the valve is aligned along the axis of flow and fixed by an actuator and on a part of the surface is washed over by gas flow, and after release of the actuator is rotated from the gas flow into its closed position shutting off the flow passage of the gas duct. The rotational axis(12) of the valve flap is located a distance away from the longitudinal axis(19) of the gas duct.
