Cosmetic or dermatological emulsions (I) comprises aqueous phase comprising: (A) hydrophilic ethoxylated emulsifier(s) having a degree of ethoxylation of 20-100; (B) hydrophobic emulsifier(s) formed from ethoxylated emulsifiers having a degree of ethoxylation of 1-5 and stearic acid derivatives; and (C) linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated aliphatic fatty alcohol(s) of 14-22C. Cosmetic or dermatological emulsions (I) comprises at least one aqueous phase comprising: (A) hydrophilic ethoxylated emulsifier(s) having a degree of ethoxylation of 20-100; (B) hydrophobic emulsifier(s) formed from ethoxylated emulsifiers having a degree of ethoxylation of 1-5 and stearic acid derivatives; and (C) linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated aliphatic fatty alcohol(s) of 14-22C. The ratio (A) : (B) : (C) is 2 : 3 : 5 to 2 : 5 : 3. An Independent claim is included for the use of combinations of (A), (B) and (C) (in ratios as above) for attaining or increasing stability of emulsions (especially oil-in-water emulsions) in the presence of electrolytes (specifically where the emulsions contain more than 5.0 wt. % dissolved electrolyte in the aqueous phase(s).
