The mobile crane has an underneath chassis on which is a rotary top chassis to which a main jib-arm is fixed. The underneath chassis has a platform on which at least one counterweight plate is placed for road-travel. At least one hydraulic cylinder (10,10')is fixed to the top chassis for gripping, raising and pressing the counterweight plate. The counterweight plate forms the base plate. Plungers (8,8')on the base plate extend coaxial with the hydraulic cylinder and have support-arms (11-11',12-12'). Other counterweight plates have openings matching the plungers.
