The linear guide includes a plug(8) which closes off a hole for a fastening screw attaching a guide rail to the machine base and also closes off a countersunk hole for the screw head. An annular wall(12) formed on the inner face(11) of the plug has an approximate circular cylindrical shape and has several circular grooves(13) on the external face located one behind the other in the axial direction. The annular wall is divided into several annular segments by several longitudinal slots(16) spaced one behind the other in the circumferential direction.
