Batch event development methods and associated structures for collecting, storing, and presenting data relating to a batch process are disclosed, wherein relationships among the various elements of the data are automatically derived by an execution program. Persistent storage contains a structure according to the relationships defined under the procedural elements and equipment in accordance with the S88.01 standards of the batch processing industry. The execution program gathers event information generated by the batch process and derives the relationships among the events in accordance with these industry standard models. The storage and the corresponding retrieval and presentation of such historical data is therefore simplified for a user, since the user does not have to configure the development programs manually in order to derive the relationships. The association of any log of continuous data with the event information is automated by the present invention, addressing the need for a manual configuration by a user to create such maps.
