The coefficients and layers of a first tree structure are computed from received data points. The coefficients and layers of a second tree structure are calculated from the coefficients of the layers of the first tree structure. The coefficients on the layers of the second tree structure are sorted, filtered and stored for reconstructing the received data sequence. The method begins by receiving a sequence of data with two data points. The data points are recorded and processed as a batch instantaneously for computing the coefficients and layers of the first tree structure. An Independent claim is also included for the data compression device.
