A shift clock timing supply unit's (52) phase is delayed by a desired delay time in contrast to a reference clock timing. A phase comparison unit (PCU) (50) compares the shift clock timing's phase with a phase for a delay clock timing for which the reference clock timing is delayed by a delay circuit (10). The PCU then transmits a comparison signal. An evaluation unit (54) determines whether or not the delay time for the delay circuit is equal to the desired delay time.
