The tracking actuator (2a) is moved radially from neutral position when the traverse (18) is in stop state. The radial position of actuator is detected, when the light spot is traversed on specific number of tracks of disc. The traverse is driven when detected displacement value during drive exceeds set value stored in a memory (14) during data regeneration from the disc. The light bear is condemned on the optical disc by the objective lens of the pick-up the light spot is made to track information track of disc by the actuator.
