The method involves superimposing an adjustable magnetic flux (5.4) on a first magnetic flux (5.1-5.3) generated perpendicularly to a moving body (4) to produce a resultant magnetic flux (5) leading to eddy currents with a rotational field (6.1,6.2) whose changes are detected by at least one detector coil (3.1-3.4) in which a voltage is induced. Independent claims are also included for the following: a Ferraris sensor.
