The suspension has a casing (3) on a seat pillar (2), which contains a longitudinally sliding fixing device for a saddle (4) and a coil spring (8), which is connected to the fixing device by a tension device (7). The fixing device has a roller-bearing supported slide (5) guided in a slide guide (25). A spring holder (24) for the spring is arranged in the casing. A tension roller (11) for the tension device is arranged at the slide. One end of the tension device is fixed at the side of the casing opposite the movement direction of the loaded slide. The tension device partly surrounds the tension roller and is guided about a fixed guide roller (12). The other end of the tension device is fixed to the coil spring.
