Hydraulic control and actuation systems for application with large earth-moving machines, dredgers etc are designed to avoid abrupt and sudden movements during operation of the machines, and instead to provide smooth controlled application of power so as to obtain the required response from the machine and system. The device for controlled movement of a movable element within a hydraulic motor includes a lever device for generating an operator command signal indicating a desired speed of the movable element. An electronic control device receives the command signal for comparison of the latter with a threshold value, and in response to this, to generate a flow control signal so that the operator command signal exceeds the threshold value.
