The main elements of the wheelchair notably sides (3,4,5), seat (9), back (10) and armrests (6) plus front support (11) are hinged together or linked up by structurally integrated rotary elements to allow all the parts to fold up into or onto one another. The main parts are individually rigid and when assembled into the seating position present a rigid and stable structure, the parts being locked together in this seating position. The parts fold up together in their entirety to give a ground plan one fifth of its height. Seat (9) and back (10) can be made of different materials and fixed to the structural linkage without in any way obstructing folding either way.
