The various types of plugs and their associated socket contacts used in electronic cabling systems, cable harnesses etc of e.g. vehicles require quick and convenient unlocking, with reduced exertion of force needed for canceling the locked state, and with an incompletely connected/disconnected state avoided, in either case. A locking arm (15) is formed on the outer surface of plug housing (12) and an engagement section (17) for the locking arm (15) is formed on the outer surface of the socket contact (receptacle) housing (13). When both housings are fully joined together the engagement section (17) locks an engagement projection (15b) of the locking arm (15)so that the plug housing (12) and the receptacle housing (13) are locked together in a connected state.
