The procedure comprises the steps of summation of the operating time of a compressor and testing whether the summed time has reached a previously determined time for defrosting, and then execution of a defrosting process if the previously determined time for the defrosting is a first defrost time point. It then involves testing of the current state of the defrost heating if the previously determined time for the defrosting is not a first defrost time point and switching on of the defrost heating to execute an on/off switch control of the defrost heating if the defrost heating is switched on and off and afterwards the on/off switch time reaches a previously determined time. It then involves switching off the defrost heating to end the defrosting process if the temperature of the cooler has reached a defrosting temperature during the on/off switch control of the defrost heating.
