A cooling device extending essentially like a sheet for the cooling and tempering of wares of all sorts, especially covered wares, especially foodstuffs, has at least one cooling element (3,4) flowed through by a coolant which can be connected in detachable fashion to a cold generator (9) via a line (7,8) of variable position. A thermally insulating layer(11) develops a flat side (12) of the cooling device(1). There are covers (13), especially flexible and thermally insulating, placed on the cooling device. The temperature of the coolant is less than 10 degC and especially comes to 5 degC. The cooling device is designed to be flexible.
