The floor cleaning machine has a wheeled chassis (12), a relatively movable brush frame (30), supporting rotary cleaning brushes (34) and respective electric motors (36) and a relatively moveable screening unit (50), provided with screening elements (52) contacting the floor for enclosing the cleaning area. The brush frame and the screening unit are coupled together to allow their sequential vertical movement via a driven lifting element (44).
