Production of a hydrogen storage alloy based on zirconium (Zr) for a nickel/metal hydride (Ni/MH) secondary cell from scrap Zr alloy (Zr-S) comprises treating the scrap; melting it with metallic titanium (Ti), vanadium (V), manganese (Mn), nickel (Ni) and chromium (Cr) in a predetermined ratio; allowing the melt to solidify; and pulverizing.
