The shoe/boot (10) has one or more studs (20), which are adjustable between two or more positions relative to the corresponding tread surface of a sole (12,14). The studs can be locked in at least one position by clamping elements (30,36), which engage on a fixed stop (28,a,b). In inactive position, the stud is located behind the tread surface, and in active position, it projects relative to that surface. Each stud is pivoted about one of several axis, and is held in a bearing, which is imbedded/ vulcanized/glued/screwed/riveted into the heel or sole material.
