Drive mechanism for control wire in endoscope has gearwheel rotatable in control part of endoscope for operating control wire

The drive mechanism for a control wire (10) in an endoscope has a gearwheel (17) which is rotatable in a control part of the endoscope for operating the control wire. A cord-shaped component (20) is wound screw-fashion around a section of the control wire near to its proximal end, where it is fixed. The winding spacing of the component corresponds to the divisions of the gearwheel and the control wire at this section is in engagement with the gearwheel. The control wire and the cord-shaped component are provided with overcoats of thermo-plastic artificial resin material, which are welded to each other. The teeth of the gearwheel are inclined outwards corresponding to the winding direction of the screw-form wound cord component.
