The internal combustion engine exhaust gas heat exchanger involves an exhaust gas recirculation system cooler with a core area (130) of several small pipes (120) through which cooling water flows. It has several ribs (111) between adjacent pipes through which exhaust gas flows. The pipes through lamination of several lamination plates are formed in a lamination direction. The core area is formed in a core housing (143), with a free space being formed between area and housing. Condensed water produced by the exhaust gas in a through passage (110) in the core housing flows through the free space downwards.
