The roller (14), for mounting in a roller support structure at a rotary printing press, has a further rotating body (12) with free rotation in the roller support structure as the roller axis. On a deviation in the rotary speeds between the two rotating bodies (12,14), a torque is transmitted by friction from one to the other to give a drag effect on the slower of the two bodies. A sliding bearing ring (15) is between the two rotating bodies (12,14), and the rotating body (12) forming the roller axis is mounted to the sides (1.1,1.2) of the roller support structure by roller bearings (13) at both ends.
