The current generator has an internal combustion (IC) engine (14) and a generator (12). Speed regulation is provided for lowering the engine speed with zero load at the current generator (12). A unit is provided for switching off the speed regulation. The switching OFF unit has a time switch, which is connected with the engine and the speed regulation, such that a time interval is provided between the starting of the engine and the beginning of the speed regulation. The time interval can be varied by an adjustment. The switch OFF unit has thermometer probe (22).
