The fuel injection unit(3) has a compression spring(29) which if it is compressed has sufficient elasticity to reactivate the injection device and to keep the spherical end of an adjusting screw(15) in contact with a pressure rod if the compression of the rocking lever(7) is released. An auxiliary spring(31) encompasses the pressure rod and preloads it against a cam follower arrangement(33) in order to maintain contact between the cam follower arrangement and fuel injection cam(35). An Independent claim is included for a procedure to improve the servicing of diesel engine fuel injection units.
