The workpiece lying on the machine table of a processing station transversely to its longitudinal extent is squeezed on the sides between rollers at least partly motor-driven, oriented with parallel axes one after another in the transport direction transversely to the support or between bands embracing these for positive-locking synchronization in friction-locking fashion. A series of rollers serves as a fixed stop against which the workpiece can be pressed by a parallel series of rollers that can be placed against it.
