Tensioning device has an adjustable piston (31) operated using a pressure device for adjusting the tensioned pieces (9) in the direction for detaching the workpiece holder (2) from the tensioned head (3) and for axially adjusting the coupling (11) in the position which releases the tension part (12). A spring (15) is arranged between the tensioned head and a sleeve (17) surrounding a tensioned rod (10) to adjust the tensioned pieces into the position which fixes the workpiece holder to the tensioned head in the rotating spindle (1). The piston adjusts the coupling into a position for operating the tensioned part.
