An interposed component 4 supports and automatically aligns the motor 2 and handle 5, which contains an intermediate drive shaft (6, figure 2) of a portable, particularly electric, motorised grass trimmer. The interposed component 4 comprises a monolithic shell made of plastics material. The shell has a tubular portion 41 on one side to receive the end of the handle 5 which co-axially houses the intermediate drive-shaft (6). On the other side the shell has a bowl shape, with fixing means 11 around the perimeter to fasten the motor 2 to it. The whole assembly is housed inside a shell 1 made up of two connected halves made from plastics material.
