PURPOSE: To provide a dimmer element with which an excellent color development effect is obtainable without being limited by kinds of color developing materials and the life of color developing-decoloring cycles is excellent by arranging dot members contg. specific particulates in a dot form on a transparent electrode substrate. ;CONSTITUTION: The dot members 11 formed to a circular columnar shape are longitudinally and transversely arranged uniformly in plural pieces and dot form on the transparent conductive substrate composed of a transparent substrate 1 and a transparent conductive film 2. These dot members 11 include particles having an electric capacity of ≥1 farad/g or particulates capable of storing an electric charge of ≥1 Coulomb/g. The dot members 11 may include porous carbon particulates having a surface area of ≥10m²/g. The color developing efficiency at ≤1V impressed voltage is insufficient when the electrode is used for the light controllable element if the surface area in the case of using of the porous carbon is below 10m²/g.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
