A pre-alloyed metal powder, based on tungsten and/or molybdenum and 3d transition metals and comprising micron-size elementary particles. A novel pre-alloyed metal powder consists of tungsten and/or molybdenum, one or more transition metals selected from Fe, Co, Ni and Cu and optionally 0-3 wt.% additive(s), the Fe content being less than 50 wt.%, and has an elementary particle size of greater than 200 nm to less than 5 mu m (as measured by a scanning electron microscope).
