Moulding article with different skin and core materials uses mould cavity with annexes storing skin material from previous moulding cycle for delivery to cavity in next cycle

A moulding apparatus has a mould cavity, first and second devices supplying materials via channel(s) to the cavity and annexes communicating with the cavity. The materials form the skin and core of the moulded article. Each annex is fitted with a movable device for closing off the annex from the cavity. A controller co-ordinates movement of the movable devices with the two supplying devices. In use the annexes contain skin material from a previous moulding cycle. An Independent claim is included for the following: (a) Moulding an article having different materials forming its core and skin using an apparatus as above. The skin and core materials are supplied sequentially. Skin material is drawn into the annexes while the core material is injected and this material is ejected when the skin material is injected in the subsequent moulding cycle. Preferred Features: Core material is prevented from entering the annexes by controlling injection pressure, temperature and/or quantity of the core material or the temperature of the cavity near the annexes.
