The visual aid unit acquires a digital image (1), and forms a synthetic image (2) slicing the image into text and graphic blocks. Faults from the support unit and missing pixels are connected (3) and the synthetic image displayed (4). The user can then select a text block or graphics (5). Where text is selected characters are enlarged and put in a queue (6). Where an image is selected, the image is zoomed (7) and movement of the image is available.
