The cap, of established type, has a, e.g. hexagonal body (2) with a cylindrical skirt, internally threaded for screwing on to a gland or similar fitting. Its conical closed end (4) incorporates a circular aperture to admit the cable, when fitted; until the cable is inserted this requires to be sealed. For this purpose, a peelable membrane (6) is proposed, attached to the rim of the aperture by adhesive, or a weak welding process similar to that used for covering plastic yogurt pots and the like. A tab (7) at the edge of the membrane gives the user a finger grip to help in its removal.
