The sorter for sheet materials (1, 2) on a conveyor has a rotary lifter (5) with its periphery in the shape of a segment of a circle which passes between sections of the conveyor and lifts individual sheets on command onto the surface of a second parallel conveyor (3) with an adhesive or suction surface.
