The radiographic image (18) has one or more saturation zones (19) notably acquired following breast scanning in automatic operating mode using a low dose pre-exposed image (13). Method in which a final image (29) is constructed from the exposed image and the pre-exposed image. Method in which: - a mask (24) is formed form the exposed image (18) by taking into account the saturation zones (19); - from the pre-exposed image (13), useful zones are determined (15,27) corresponding to the saturation zones (19) of the exposed image (18), using the mask (24). The complementary zone (26) of the union of useful zones (15, 27) is put at a null gray level; - a digital processing of certain gray levels of the two images (18 and 19) is carried out, and; - a final image (29) is determined from a combination of the two processed images.
