The gear selector consists of a control lever (2), designed to be pivoted into one of several positions. The primary group of positions require that the control on the gear box is effected by a transmission cable, and the second group require that control the gear box is by electric means. The lever fits into a series of slots (7, 8) in a selector block, fixed to one end of the cable, to transmit the required movement to the cable, when the lever is in one of the first group positions and not to transmit movement, in any of the positions of the second group. An Independent claim is also included for the endpiece placed at end of the transmission cable (4).
