Separating a mixture of ethane and ethylene from vapocracking effluent containing hydrogen, methane, ethylene, ethane, acetylene, methacetylene, propadiene, propene and at least 4C hydrocarbons comprises adsorbing a charge using a cooled solvent phase and an adsorption column(s) to give a gas phase containing H2 and CH4 and a solvent phase containing ethylene, ethane, acetylene, methacetylene, propadiene, propene and at least 4C hydrocarbons, hydrogenating the liquid phase in a catalyzed hydrogenation zone(s) to give a (partially) hydrogenated liquid phase not containing acetylene, regenerating the liquid phase in a first distillation-regeneration column(s) to recover a gas phase that is condensed to give a vapor phase and a liquid phase containing at least 2C hydrocarbons and a solvent phase, passing the hydrocarbon phase through a second distillation-recuperation column to recover a phase that is condensed to give a light gas phase, a mixture comprising ethane and ethylene and a 3+C hydrocarbon fraction, cooling the solvent and reintroducing in to the adsorption column. An Independent claim is included for the apparatus used comprising an adsorption columns, a charge entry point, a column head, a cooling device, a gas exit, a liquid phase exit, a hydrogenation effluent exit, two distillation columns with cooling device, gas exits, condensation and exit device and recycling device.
