Magneto-optical read head comprises a substrate (101) covered with a magnetically sensitive layer (103), a dielectric layer (104) and a reflecting layer (106) with a method for heating the magnetically sensitive layer so that it remains in a range of temperate which maximizes its efficiency and its magnetic signal to noise ration. Heating can be using a thermostat, using a laser beam, or using a an electrically conducting layer (106).
