METAL GALVANOPLASTIC DEPOSITS OF THE PLATINUM MINE ON ORTHODONTIC BRACKETS OR ATTACHMENTS, THEIR ACCESSORIES AND AUXILIARIES IN NI, CR, CO AND TI AND THEIR ALLOYS

The invention concerns accessory and auxiliary metal attachments, new or recycled, for orthodontic or orthopaedic dentofacial use, surface treated with a platinum metal ion coating. Other metal ions known in dentistry may coexist provided that the coating deposited has been successfully tested according to standard allergenic ion detection tests. The deposits can concern all or part of the surface of the appliance and are vapour deposited under vacuum or preferably by electroplating on an adhesive undercoat of fine gold. Said metal coats provide aesthetic and mechanical improvement with respect to prior art, and above all medical improvement, since apart from their discreet whiteness, close to that of teeth, they are reputed more noble than gold and can be implanted by surgery; they form a barrier to allergenic nickel, cobalt and chromium ions and to toxic silver, tin, copper, aluminium and particularly cadmium ions sometimes alloyed in solders.
