Mechanical joining piece consists of circular seal joint (4), packing ring (5), elastic split ring (6), support ring (7) and body (1) incorporating an enclosing and supporting flange (2). Counter joint (3) may be incorporated in joining piece, and flange may be integral part of body. Elastic split ring is provided with two pivoting nuts (9,10) with left hand and right hand threads, which are joined by screwed rod (13) with similar threads. Ends of rod protrude through bushes (11,12) fitted in supporting flange. An Independent claim is also included for the mechanical joining method.
